Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day.

I hope that your day has been fun, I know mine has been.
But more importantly I hope that you stopped to think about our troops and their families.
Just stop and think about it.
 Their sacrifice is incredible.
In one moment their lives may swing in a dramatic direction, changing for ever.

If you are in the military or your loved one is serving I just want to say thank you.
Thank you so much.
My life would be incredibly different without your sacrifice.

 God bless you.
 Thank you for your service.

 You answered the call.

God bless our Troops.

Let it Go.

Do you ever just have a song that's stuck in your head? I do.

Lately that song seems to be "Do You Want to Build a Snowman", "For the First Time in Forever", "In Summer" or "Love is an Open Door" all from Disney's popular movie Frozen. But above all four of those songs is "Let it Go".

With a strong vocalist, impressive music and catchy lyrics this song is constantly in my head  and being sung loudly by myself or my family members and friends.

I have found that a lot of people, Christians as a group (I wish to mention that I am a Christian), like to pull "Let it Go" out of context and say that the lyrics, more specifically the lines stating;

No right/no wrong/no rules for me/I am free

encourage people to be proud in their shame and that we don't have rules we have to live by or any moral standard.

By taking this song out of context with the movie, that is slightly true. However, considering the whole plot-line of the movie this song brings it to one of its higher peaks.

Imagine after an accident as a young child your parents lock you up and train you from a young age to be afraid of a skill or talent you have. The more you fear, the more you hide. The more you hide, the more afraid and alone you feel. It's just a constant cycle of bad to worse. You're living by a set of false, man-made rules. You're trapped in your one "bad quality". And because of it you will never be the real you.

And then one day through another accident you escape and are free and though you're alone, you are no longer bound to false standards and expectations. No right. No wrong. No rules.

"Let it Go" is Elsa's victory song. After years of battle, this is what she's sees as freedom, as the thing she has always yearned for, even though it's not entirely true.

She was bound by man-made rules.

Which are false.

God's moral standard is what we should be living by. Not man-made lies, deception and fear.

Cookies.

Cookies. Every time I make them they remind me of a few certain friends (you know who you are ;)). Here's to cookies, pelicans and bombers.*raises glass of milk*

I Love You.

When was the last time you told your special people (whoever they are) "I love you" and really meant it?

Go do it. But just don't blurt it out. Do something for them that shows that you love them.

I'm not necessarily saying go buy something for them but do something with them or take time out of your busy, busy life to show you really do care. That might just be a few simple words but often we overuse the word "love". That's why I am suggesting you show.

Take her out to coffee. Sit down and watch his favorite sport with him. Hold her bags while she is shopping (no complaining). Make him his favorite pie. It could be a number of things.

My little sister makes people things. Special little things that she thinks they will enjoy, ranging from cards to cookies, paper cranes and little slingshots, signs and drawings.

And they are special.

Not because she went out and spent a load of money but because she sat down, thinking of that one person and did her absolute best effort to make them smile or make them happy. To make them know they are loved.

:D
